Nostalgic: Up On The Roof

I have talked before in one of my earliest posts which was Nostalgic about how Johnson's Baby Shampoo (which I use currently :P) reminded me of my childhood days and the old beautiful cartoons and while I was surfing the net today I came across a site with the cartoons songs and I listened to this one "Al7adeeqa AlSerreyah- The Secret Garden" though I don't remember watching this cartoon but I liked the song! Then my thoughts went back in time and I remembered some of the action in my childhood and early teenage hood. My cousin, my brother and I used to build us a small tent or some kind of a hut on the roof of our house using two wooden posts and some wood plates and some old rigs. We used to spend great times there specially during Ramadan at night where we have some candles to light the place or a flashlight. Also we used to hang out there during winter. We used it for fun, we smoked there even :P and we used it to hide from our parents :D

We really had great times up on the roof! We used to play football there with my other younger cousins and my nephew. We had very intense matches :D. I think even the girls played with us when they were small :P My mom used to get mad when we play there saying one day you will make the house fall on us!!

We used to have small cars with pedals for kids and they were quite old that time so we thought of ourselves as engineers and decided to build a caravan or a trailer to drive out in the street. We brought some wood and steel and some tools and started to build it. I think we only managed to dismantle the old cars and put a wood plate on the tires then we just gave up and decided to not waste time on this. That time we were thinking of after we finish it, how can we get it down to the street? :P

During the winter exams period which is after the 1st term of the year, my brother and I decided to go and study on the roof and we took a carpet and made tea and went there. It felt like we are camping :D The weather was perfect, the sky was blue with some white clouds and the birds were singing on the TV aerial. We enjoyed catching flies too ;). When we finished drinking all the tea, our cups became sticky with what is left of the tea and that attracted the flies so they enter the cup and we directly blocked on them with our hands then we put them in a plastic bag. Then after a while we release them :D. Too bad they were not butterflies! That would have made the whole scene more perfect.

Some people have a secret garden and I have the roof ;)

That really sounds fun.

I used to play alone most of the time or read. I was a day dreamer (Still am, there was this place that I live in with animals and toys and imagination friends. It is some times a village and sometimes forest and sometimes out of space; some times I am English and sometimes Arab.

(Would you keep it a secret if I told you that I still have this secret garden, It's NEVER LAND) :P

I didn't like to play alone when I was a kid or maybe there were not any toys or games that I can play alone!
I don't think yoy day dream more than I do! I day dream all the time and anywhere and any situation! :D
Imaginary friends? I always wanted but no one of them wanted to be my friend I guess :P

I think we used to play role games like the cop and the theif or we in a forest or just get on bed and act like it was a big ship and we are sailing and the one who falls will drown in the sea :D

(Your secret is safe with me ;) and I would like to visit your never land once ..give me the address :P )

Clouds:
Thanks :D

True what you have said about innocence! That time we didn't have those evil thoughts in our minds :P
The 80's is the best period ever! I love it and I love it's music! The thing I will hate about it is that it does not have internet :(
Why don't you wanna get married? Maybe your kids will let you live that period again ;)

I checked the secret garden online and they said it was produced in 1991 so that makes it a little bit old I guess! I have seen the ads for it in space toon but never cared to watch.

Thanks for reading the post :)

You want the adress?

I don't know it my self; the door appears from no where when ever I feel like going there.

if you find it you are welcome to visit :)

Hopeless Poet said...

Then I rather invite you to my never land beyond the clouds! Just follow the rainbow way up and you will find me there probably surfing the net while I am on my comfortable cloud :P
But I will keep my eyes open for any door that opens from no where ;)

I have visited you there more than once when reading your poems, It is really sad that you didn't even notice me :(

Hopeless Poet said...

Who said I didn't notice you? I have seen you walking between the lines running from one rhyme to another spreading your wings and flying between the stanzas :D

I love the post ...I wanna be a kid again :((...alot of fun things happened in my child hood they are unforgetable ... but what I really remember that I was the most crying person ;( ... I always cry ;( I even have picture me crying !!!

My secret place was hidding and playing under my bed it was my favorite place :P

"Too bad they were not butterflies! That would have made the whole scene more perfect" ... Very poetic :))

Clouds:
Yeah it is a nice conversation :D

Don't get married and don't have kids so that you don't play with them and watch cartoons and so on :P

Hopeless Poet said...

Namika:
So you too went to the roof to study? Maybe I noticed you! I remember once I was waiving to some kids who were studying on the roof somewhere far away from me but I don't think they noticed :P

You have them in your memories to share them with us first and then your kids, so start posting some memories ;)

Hopeless Poet said...

Blossom:
I used to cry too specially when my father used to give me hard lectures about school :P
I want to see that picture :P

Well under the bed was not possible for me! Most of the beds at home are those beds that don't have posts, covered from all sided but hollow inside but we can't get in there unless we raise the bed up which was a hard job for kids!

Butterflies to insects is like poetry to literature ;)

Flamingoliya:
Wanna go on a catching flies trip? :P
That will be like a trip to any near dumpster :P

HP..

Oh u r an HP have u noticed that :D

That was very interesting!! As for me, I used to play football with my brothers AT HOME..that was gr8..and then my bro taught me how to play chess..till now, we enjoy spending our time playing chess..I won't go on, coz I will cry..Those days will never be back :(

Hopeless Poet said...

Rain Drop or RD:
Yeah I have noticed :P
But I can gurantee to you that I am a better quality than them :P

My younger brother loves to play chess and he used to play a lot with my father and they used to argue when one of them loses :D
I played it few times, but I couldn't fall in love with it! It makes my brain tired :P
It is funny how these memories first bring a smile to our faces when we remember them, then the smile turns to tears because we know they will never be back again!

Rain Drop said...

HP

yeah..that is so true..

and that's why I hate my memories..
I wish if I could have an eraser to get rid of all of them..

They were great..but I won't be able to live them again..

As for chess, this is the point and this is why it is interesting..bcoz u have to think and think..:D

Hopeless Poet said...

RD:
I don't wanna erase the happy memories! Maybe just the sad ones!
If you erase all your memories you will lose touch with your loves ones and they will be strangers to you! I don't think you want that ;)

And I rather spend time thinking of a poem to write rather than beating someone in chess :P

Flamingoliya said...

i have a real big one close to me now, i thought it was a bee! etkharri3!!!

Catch it and take it home and do some experiments on it! I hope it won't be like that movie, The fly :P
