Song Of The Week (7)

Here is one of my all time favorite songs from one of my all time favorite artists. I heard this song first time in early 90s long before I know the satellite dish and long before the Internet. The song is "Hazard" for "Richard Marx". He is one of the most talented musicians around but he chose not to be a commercial artist.

Hazard

My mother came to Hazard when I was just seven
Even then the folks in town said with prejudiced eyes
That boy's not right
Three years ago when I came to know Mary
First time that someone looked beyond the rumors and the lies
And saw the man inside

We used to walk down by the river
She loved to watch the sun go down
We used to walk along the river
And dream our way out of this town

No one understood what I felt for Mary
No one cared until the night she went out walking alone
And never came home
Man with a badge came knocking next morning
Here was I surrounded by a thousand fingers suddenly
Pointed right at me

I swear I left her by the river
I swear I left her safe and sound
I need to make it to the river
And leave this old Nebraska town

I think about my life gone by
How it's done me wrong
There's no escape for me this time
All of my rescues are gone, long gone

I swear I left her by the river
I swear I left her safe and sound
I need to make it to the river
And leave this old Nebraska town

Well finally I managed to please your musical taste then :P
I think what attracts me first to songs is the music and then the words and then I pay more attention to the words when I listen to the song again and again.
Have you even seen the video of this song? I've seen it once or twice but I don't remember much of it!

Kazablanka:
You should hear it then ;)
And yeah you can't steal it cos if you do, you will be sued in the court :P

It's practically the only hit that he had in the UK. Anyway, it's the only song I know of his. Very good.

So, did he kill her or didn't he? It's ambiguious.

The sheriff killed her .. she had an affair with him before she fell in love with Richard Marx :P

I think it is .. as long as there is a river and they walk beside it and then the cops came and pointed their fingers at him :P
